If you are a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiary of the Social Security Administration (SSA), you will receive two payments in the month of August. This is not a double paycheck, but a U.S. Social Security payment schedule. SSA payments for this assistance are paid on the 1st of each month. However, if that day falls on a holiday or weekend, the Administration advances the payment to the first business day. This is what will happen in August: you will receive your monthly payment on Friday, August 1, and you will also receive your September payment on August 29. Why? September 1st is Labor Day, which is a holiday, so Social Security brings the payment forward to Friday, August 29th.
Supplemental Security Income and Social Security
The role of the United States Administration in the country for more than 60 years is well known. Its function is to ensure economic equity in the American society, providing social assistance to those who need it, as well as managing retirement and its corresponding pensions, as well as disability benefits. It offers multiple social benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicare or Medicaid, among many others. Supplemental Security Income (SSI), on the other hand, is assistance for people with disabilities or seniors who have little or no financial resources. The vast majority of SSI recipients see this payment as their only income, relying on it entirely.
Social Security Payment Calendar
The Social Security Administration (SSA), operates on a rigorous payment schedule, which may result in situations where beneficiaries receive 2 payments in the same month. This does not mean that there is a double payment, but rather that there is a coincidence in the calendar. Social benefits, especially Supplemental Security Income, are paid on the 1st of each month, without exception.
The Administration’s intention is that recipients receive their income as soon as possible, without delay, so that they can organize their finances. However, the calendar has a feature: if the first day of the month falls on a holiday or weekend, Social Security will advance the payment to the first working day. This means that two payments could be received in the same month, but each corresponding to different months.
What will be happening in August?
This peculiarity of the Social Security calendar is nothing new, as this situation has occurred before in the year 2025. However, some beneficiaries are still somewhat clueless, and are happy to see another income in their account, but are also saddened to see that the following month they have not received anything. What will happen in August? Very simple. In August they will receive the current month’s payment on Friday the 1st, without any variation.
However, on Friday, August 29th you will receive another payment. What does this amount correspond to? This payment corresponds to the month of September. According to the SSA calendar, September 1st is a Monday, but it is a holiday. Labor Day is celebrated on September 1, which is why the Administration is advancing the payment for that month to Friday, August 29. When do the rest of the SSA beneficiaries get paid?
- Those born between 1-10: second Wednesday of the month.
- Those born between 11-20: third Wednesday of the month.
- Those born between 21-31: last Wednesday of the month.
What will happen for the rest of the month?
Payments for the remainder of August are:
- Friday, August 1.
- Wednesday, August 13.
- Wednesday, August 20.
- Wednesday, August 27.
- Friday, August 29.
If you are a beneficiary of any type of assistance provided by the U.S. Social Security Administration, I recommend that you make a note of these dates so that you can check when you will receive your next income!
Starting in July, the SSA begins to reduce income… are you affected?
