Many families in California benefit from the well-known Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also called CalFresh, to access food for basic nutrition. Both SNAP and CalWORKS beneficiaries receive financial assistance through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. The benefits from these aids are deposited between the 1st and 10th of each month. If you do not receive your benefit on the estimated date, it is recommended to contact the County Department of Social Services to rectify any errors that may have occurred, or consult the Propel application, where you can find guided help to resolve your case.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
It is a federal Nutrition Assistance program through which more than 42 million Americans receive financial help to access food. It is a social program aimed at families with low resources or no income. Many of these families would not even be able to access food that constitutes a basic and balanced diet without this assistance.
The recipients of this aid receive the money through a deposit on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which functions like a debit card. This card can only be used in establishments compatible with the aid, although it is true that almost all food retailers in the country are included. To be eligible for SNAP, one must meet a series of income requirements. The SNAP is also known as the CalFresh aid.
CalFresh payments in August
Both CalFresh and CalWORKS beneficiaries receive the corresponding financial assistance on their ETB cards during the first days of the month. The schedule established for CalFresh payments for August 2025 is set between the 1st and the 10th of the month. The order depends on the last digit of the beneficiary’s case code, starting from 1 and ending with 10. If you have questions about your case number, you can check it through the BenefitsCal portal or through the notifications sent by the county. In any case, the dates based on the case number are as follows:

- 2, will be deposited on August 2.
- 3, will be deposited on August 3.
- 4, will be deposited on August 4.

The card balances are usually charged at midnight on ETB cards, as indicated by the Propel app. However, if you see that the deposit does not take place instantly, it may appear throughout the day.

- Your file has incomplete or outdated information.
- Changes in your family or financial situation.
- The county has not yet completed your eligibility process.Administrative errors unrelated to the beneficiary.
