Farewell to gasoline - the first car that “breathes” instead of polluting is already a reality... and runs on compressed air alone

We have heard about electric cars, hydrogen cars and even those powered by solar panels. However, the technology of the latest model created seems almost a joke. The startup Zero Pollution Motors together with MDI (Motor Development International), have been working together in secret for some time to bring a compressed air car to the market. This is a totally innovative bet in the sustainable mobility sector in the United States. An urban car with the name AirPod 2.0, which has passed the pilot tests and proves that it can be powered by the cleanest energy in the world; the air. Have you heard about this new technology?

Renewable energies in the automotive world

The automotive industry has been forced to make a 180-degree turn in the development of its technologies and designs. The delicate environmental situation of our planet requires extreme measures to avoid, among many other polluting actions, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. This has led automakers to invest in the search for clean energy propulsion alternatives that do not generate emissions, or that are as low as possible. This situation has led to the emergence of alternative vehicles such as electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles or those with solar panels.

Air-powered car

It sounds as absurd or unbelievable as it is real. What energy source is cleaner than air itself? None. That’s why a small startup called Zero Pollution, together with Motor Development International (MDI), has quietly carried out this project. It is a technology that does not require plugs, nor does it depend on weather conditions or recharging. This does not happen with hydrogen or electric models, which despite being very low in emissions, do not meet the 0% emissions target. It is difficult to imagine driving a car that requires little or no attention; there is no need to charge it, no need to refuel it, just drive it.

Airpod 2.0

The major vehicle manufacturers and their subsidiaries have been in a race for years to find the perfect clean energy to power their vehicles. Clean in production, in use and also in storage if required. However, so far all those that have been developed are accompanied by a certain percentage of pollution, as is the case with the lithium bacteria in electric cars, which after use, storing or destroying them is extremely dangerous and polluting.

However, Zero Pollution Motors and MDI have managed to make a small urban car that only needs propelled air to operate. The engineer responsible for this idea, Guy Nègre declared “It is no longer a dream, we have built a car that breathes instead of burns”.

Airpod 2.0 main features

Some of its main features are:

  • Total emissions to the atmosphere are 0%.
  • It does not need more than 3 minutes to recharge.
  • It features light and lightweight materials, favoring a smooth ride.
  • Its price is affordable for all budgets.
  • The air tank does not reach $2.
  • It is not noisy when driving.

Not so exclusive

Despite the secrecy surrounding this project, it is not the first to be presented. The Japanese have already contemplated this possibility, completely excluding hydrogen models. Not only is it kind to the environment, but it is also kind to its driver. Its design features comfortable seats and easy access to driving information. The main function of this model is to be non-polluting and to make the driver’s driving experience as easy and pleasant as possible. Although it seems almost surreal, it seems that the tables are turning and making water and air the preferred engine models of the 22nd century.

I hope the owners of these models are luckier than those affected by this BMW recall.
