The city of Howell in Michigan, United States, is mourning the closing of one of its most emblematic establishments in the brewing industry. It is Anchor Brewing. It is a family-owned establishment specializing in craft beer. After 11 years in operation, its owner has decided that it is time to close its doors. As a farewell, the owner has invited his customers to say goodbye by having a beer and enjoying his variety of products. In addition, he leaves the door open for someone else to take over, as the premises are fully equipped.
Craft beer
One of the most consumed beverages on the planet is beer. For some it is man’s best invention, for others it is just an alcoholic beverage. Its origin goes back to the Sumerian people, the first great civilization of the Middle East. It was the most common drink, and against all odds, it was brewed by women. It is made from barley grains or other germinated cereals.
The starch is fermented in water and mixed with yeast and other bacteria. Since a few years ago, everything healthy has become fashionable in favor of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and it has also affected beer. How can this be? Brewers and amateurs have opted for craft beer, offering a healthy product, handmade and with good quality products.
There are many types of beers depending on their flavor, bitterness, hop flavor, aroma, color, and a long etcetera. Some of these types are:
- IPA: bitter with citrus notes.
- Porter: dark with notes of chocolate and caramel.
- Lambic: sour, vinegary touch and fruity flavor.
- Bock: German origin, presence of malt.
This classification is considered the “main” one, but there are many, many other types Beer comprises a very wide world in which all tastes can find their preferred style.
Eternity Brewing Company
Eternity Brewing Company began its journey in the State of Michigan in 2014. Located specifically in Genoa Township (between Brighton and Howell). After years of offering its services, it has become a favorite place for beer lovers. It offers a wide catalog of beer, but the most successful is undoubtedly the local and craft beer. However, on June 4, owner Ethan Whitesell surprised customers by announcing on social media that the establishment was closing.
Through his social media profile, he explained to his loyal customers that the time had come to close. Brewery farewell
Closing a store is never easy for its owner, especially when it’s something he doesn’t want to do. This is the case of Whitesell. As a way of thanking him and as a way to finish with the stock still available, he invited all his customers and anyone who wanted to, to have a beer and say goodbye to an establishment that has given so much joy, both to him and to craft beer lovers
“I want to invite you all to come and help us clean the inventory during these last few weeks. Let’s share a few more beers, some laughs and some good memories together before closing our doors”. This initiative has moved the neighbors, who have decided to support him in his latest initiative.
The legacy continues
In addition, Whitesell encourages citizens to pick up his baton. He explains that it is a perfectly equipped location with the desire and potential to continue offering experiences and welcoming people. It is a perfect opportunity to continue his legacy or to bet on another type of business. What about you? Would you like to be the owner of one of the most famous breweries in the State of Michigan?
