2025 is not proving to be the best year for the Ford brand. It is a period characterized by the automaker’s numerous recalls of its vehicles once they are already in the market. One of the latest was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which specified that the Ford recall affects 499,129 vehicles in the United States. The affected models include the Lincoln MKX 2016-2028, and the Ford Edge 2015-2018.

The issue is significant, as it involves a leak in one of the flexible brake hoses. This is extremely dangerous, as it increases braking distance, pedal travel, and consequently, the risk of an accident. Ford’s Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra, explained on his blog that the increase in recalls is related to the company’s intention to provide a quick response to affected users. The company has communicated that it will reach out to affected users and expects to have a solution by April 2026. If you are one of the affected individuals, you can get more information on Ford’s official website or by visiting one of the official dealerships.

Ford recalls

Ford is currently experiencing one of the largest recalls in the automotive industry: 110 recalls so far in the year 2025. The brand has acknowledged that its revenues are irregular, but they have implemented reforms in their factories, including the use of artificial intelligence. Failures in rear cameras, batteries, auxiliary systems, door handles, or electronic systems are just some of the failures that have caused the company to withdraw its vehicles from the market.

Latest withdrawals

One of the latest recalls has been announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In this case, the number of affected vehicles is nearly 500,000, specifically 499,129. It has been identified that the affected models include the 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX models, and the 2015-2018 Ford Edge. The detected issue is significant as it relates to the vehicle’s braking capacity.

It has been determined that one of the flexible brake hoses may have leaks, which increases the braking distance, the pedal travel, and consequently, the risk of being involved in a traffic accident. The brand explains that if the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir drops, a red warning light will illuminate on the dashboard indicating the need for a visit to the workshop.

What now?

According to clarifications on the blog of Ford’s Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra, “The increase in recalls reflects our intensive strategy to quickly identify and resolve hardware and software issues and to make an extra effort to help protect customers.” Ford has begun contacting those affected this September and believes the problem will be resolved by April 2026. To this end, it has announced an increase in its workforce, with the addition of security experts and technicians responsible for conducting critical system tests on current vehicles.

What does Ford say?

To date, Ford claims to have received no reports of injuries or accidents related to this production defect, and although it is not facing any class-action lawsuits, it cannot be completely ruled out that it will happen. If you are one of the affected individuals and/or own one of the affected models, you should receive some notification from the company. If you have not received it or have any questions regarding the situation, Ford recommends visiting the official support webpage or going in person to an official Ford dealership to request assistance.
