Bad news for the Ford brand and its drivers in the United States. The American car brand has again announced the need to review 1.5 million vehicles due to failures in the rear camera. Several models manufactured between 2015 and 2019 have been affected, such as the Mustang, Ranger, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, Edge, Expedition, and the Super Duty trucks, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550. Additionally, it also affects models from the luxury brand Lincoln, specifically the Navigator and MKC models. This is a failure that causes the rear camera to not display parking assistance images properly, but rather distorted and in white.

This increases the risk of accidents; in fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has already reported 18 accidents resulting from this failure. According to Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, who stated this to investors, the company aims to reduce the number of incidents and regain regularity in its revenue. If you own one of these vehicles, you should wait for the brand to contact you via email, where they will schedule a free inspection, where, if necessary, the camera will be replaced.

Ford

Founded by Henry Ford in 1903, it is a multinational American automobile company based in Dearborn, Michigan. Its production focuses on cars, commercial vehicles, and luxury vehicles, in addition to offering financial and technological services. Ford is notably linked to the assembly line system thanks to its creator, but certainly, the last few years have not been the best for the brand.

110 withdrawals in 2025

If you are the owner and driver of a Ford model manufactured between 2015 and 2019, you should take into account the following information. Recently, the brand has announced a recall affecting nearly 1.5 million vehicles due to a failure related to the rear camera. With this, there are now 110 recalls in 2025 related to production or technological failures of their vehicles. This figure represents a record in the automotive industry, as no one has reached such a recall figure in a single year. Special attention should be paid by those drivers who own the following models:

  • Mustang.
  • Ranger.
  • Transit.
  • Transit Connect.
  • Econoline.
  • Edge.
  • Expedition.
  • Camionetas de la serie Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450 y F-550.
  • Lincoln: Navigator and MK.

What production defect has been detected this time?

This time the recall is due to a failure in the images provided by the rear parking assist camera. This defect causes the screen to display blank or distorted images, which increases the risk of an accident. So far, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claims that Ford has already recorded at least 18 accidents related to this failure. However, we can be glad that none have reported injuries.

How does Ford face this new recall?

Undoubtedly, 2025 has not been the best year for Ford in terms of revenue. Throughout this year, it has reported recalls related to battery faults, auxiliary systems, door handles, and other electronic systems. Already in 2024, Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, stated to his investors, “Our profits may be a bit irregular. What we will see in the long term is fewer recalls and lower warranty costs thanks to this new process”. This is why the company has implemented reforms and updates with the help of artificial intelligence within its factory, and has launched a system called Build and Hold, meaning it retains newly manufactured units until their quality is evaluated before being delivered to customers.

What to do if my vehicle is affected?

Ford has announced that they will contact all customers who own vehicles on the affected list. Therefore, if you are one of them, you will need to wait to receive a notification by mail where you will be invited to go to a Ford or Lincoln dealer. There, an inspection will be carried out, and if necessary, the replacement of your rear camera will take place. All of this will be at no cost and includes collection, delivery, and mobile service.
