TJX Companies is the company that owns HomeGoods and other retail chains such as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and Sierra. It was in 1992, three years before acquiring Marshalls, that TJX launched HomeGoods, an “off-price” retail business model, meaning it offers products from well-known brands at lower prices. With over 900 locations, its catalog includes clothing, kitchen utensils, furniture, home decor, storage options, among many other products. Recently, it has opened in five additional locations: Columbus, Indiana; Burlington, North Carolina; and Punta Gorda, Florida.
However, the big announcement is about major openings for the months of October and November in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and in Daly City, California. The former location in Ohio is relocating to Great Northern Plaza in North Olmsted, and two more will open in Gulfport, Mississippi, and in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Additionally, HomeGoods and T.J.Maxx have announced their intention to close their stores on Thanksgiving Day, reopening on Black Friday, and offering alternatives such as Kmart, Big Lots, Whole Foods, and Kroger.
