This week, the Social Security Administration (SSA) in the United States will issue a new round of payments corresponding to the month of November 2025. This Wednesday, November 12, it will be the turn of those who receive retirement benefits, disability benefits through Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and survivors’ benefits. In addition, with the approval last month of the new Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), more than 70 million Social Security beneficiaries will see a 2.8% increase in their monthly payments.

Authorities have assured that SSA payments will not be affected by the federal government shutdown, and beneficiaries will continue to receive their income through electronic payments or via the Direct Express debit card. If you need more information related to your payments, you can access the My Social Security portal, where you will find all the information related to them.

SSA November payments

The Social Security Administration (SSA) will issue a new round of payments corresponding to November 2025 this week. Specifically, it is expected that beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and the 10th will receive their monthly payment on Wednesday, November 12. This payment date includes retirees, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries, and survivor benefits recipients. These are the pending payments for November as stipulated in the official Social Security calendar:

  • November 19 for those born between the 11th and the 20th.
  • November 26 for those born between the 21st and the 31st.

What amounts do beneficiaries receive?

The amount received by the more than 70 million Social Security beneficiaries depends on the eligibility criteria for each type of benefit. Factors such as time worked, household income, age, or the number of children are some of the determining aspects. However, the average amounts received are:

  • Retirement: An average amount of $2,008.31 per month, while the maximum benefit can reach $5,108.
  • People with disabilities (SSDI): Receive around $1,582.95.
  • Survivors: Receive an average of $1,575.30.

These amounts will experience a slight increase for the 2026 payments, specifically by 2.8%. This is due to the approval of the new Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), announced on October 24, which represents an increase in Social Security payments.

Not everyone receives payments in November

The Social Security schedule varies depending on the benefit to be paid. One of the characteristics is that those who began receiving their benefits before May 1997 do not have to wait for the schedule based on their birth date; instead, they receive their deposit on the third day of each month. Their last payment occurred on Monday, November 3, 2025. Other benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), also do not follow the birth date schedule rule; rather, it is made on the first business day of each month. The last payment occurred on Friday, October 31, advancing due to the payment day coinciding with a holiday.

Social Security payments

The Administration is moving away from physical checks as much as possible and focusing on electronic payments. These are made through direct deposits into bank accounts or with Direct Express debit cards. Any questions related to payments, dates, or any other type of information can be consulted through the My Social Security Portal.

Although the new COLA percentage has already been approved, the new 2.8% increase will not be received by all retirees due to the high cost of Medicare. Do you know how it could affect the amount received?
